Launched 5.12.1922 and Completed on 26.1.1923 by Swan, Hunter & Wigham, Richardson Ltd, Newcastle, Yard No. 1134, at their Low Walker yard. 6,943 GRT, 10,873 DWT. 440' 0" LBP, 57' 0" Breadth, 33' 9" Moulded Depth, 26' 5½" Summer Draught. Powered by 2 steam turbines, 1 HP & 1 LP, built by the shipbuilder and double reduction geared to a single screw shaft. 3,210 hp giving a service speed of 10½ knots. 10 main oil "holds" with five summer tanks on each side connected by expansion trunking. Single pump room situated between nos. 5 & 6 main holds containing 2 x steam reciprocating cargo pumps with a maximum discharge capacity of 680 t.w./hr. She survived WWII without damage and was eventually sold to the British Iron & Steel Corp. in January 1953. She was allocated to Metal Industries Ltd. for demolition and arrived at Faslane 10.1.1953 for breaking. |
