SANDTORHAFEN |
The SANDTORHAFEN in Hamburg as it appears today. In 1866 it was the first place where vessels from England and Scandinavia could berth alongside. Today it´s part of the Hafen-City, a huge Dockland-type development which will also house the preserved fleet of ships and boats (Museumshafen). The major building will be the Elbphilharmonie at the far left, a gigantic concert hall on top of the old Shed A (Kaispeicher A) which will be ready in 2012, just a short walk from the new Maritime Museum which opened last year. |
