Zhen Hua 19
Zhen Hua 19
The 'Zhen Hua 19' left Shanghai on April 10th. and arrived at the Rio Grande bar, Brazil via Cape Horn on May 26th.

She was carrying not only the new cranes for Felixstowe but several large drydock gates for a new shipbuilding dock at Rio Grande.

On arrival there (and here too) her overall dimensions , with cargo, were 81 metres in height (265 feet) and 140 metres (459 feet) wide.

The amazing outreach was 66.7 meters (218 feet) to Starboard and 33.7 meters (110 feet)to Port.

Due to restrictions she did not complete discharge until 15/06/2008.

The vessel berthed at Felixstowe on the 20th July 2008 and I took this photo yesterday, 22nd. July 2008.

Preparations are underway to cut off the enormous tubular steel lashings and prepare the portable rails, aboard and ashore, in preaparation to haul the 1,300 tonne cranes from the main deck of the vessel.

The two cranes are Post -Panamax with an outreach of 22 boxes across and are the tallest yet.

They are the Port's 29th. and 30th quayside container cranes.

The vessel was converted in 2004 from the bulk carrier 'New Horizon' and appeared small next to the container vessels for and aft..
