AYRSHIRE

AYRSHIRE 1957 Company:Scottish Shire Line[Tumbull Martin]-subsidiary of Clan Line. 9,360 tons 535' x 69' Built Clyde[Greenock Dochyard] Trade: Britain to Australia 376,000 cu.ft. refrigerated space. 12 passengers Smoke deflector cowl on funnel evolved by builders and fitted to a number of Clan Line and P.S.N.C. ships 105-ton derrick and 2x 40-ton derricks. Wrecked at Abd Al Awi near Socotra in 1965. She was the last ship built for the company's Australian trade, and the last fitted with the distinctive Clan Line funnel top introduced in 1949.
