Danish pass/cargo liner SELANDIA (2), imo 5615009/ 138m/ 8.482gt/ 15kn/ 64 pax/ 70 crew incl. a doctor; 10/1938 completed by Nakskov Skibsvaerft, Nakskov, for The East Asiatic Co., Ltd., Copenhagen, which employed her on the Far East service as follows: Outward - Copenhagen, Middlesborough, Antwerp, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Southampton, Marseilles, Suez Canal, Aden, Colombo, Penang, Port Swettenham (now Port Kelang), Malacca, Singapore, Bangkok, Saigon; Homeward - Bangkok, Saigon, Singapore, one or two more ports on the Malayan peninsula, Colombo, Aden, Suez Canal, Marseilles, London, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Copenhagen; 09/05/1940 requisitioned at Saigon by French government; 22/06/1940 requisitioned at Cape Town by South Africa. South African Highland Regiment soldiers boarded the ship while the French and Danish sea-officers were ashore and “persuaded” the French marines to leave the vessel. Like many other EAC ships SELANDIA was of unconventional appearance, having no funnel and four masts, the smoke escaped from third mast. 06/12/1962 arrived La Spezia for breaking up. Sister ship FALSTRIA.
