British pass/cargo liner HIGHLAND PATRIOT, imo 1161883/ 166m/ 14.157gt/ twin screw/ 15kn; pax: 150 1st class, 70 intermediate, 500 3rd class; 14/05/1931 completed by Harland & Wolff, Ltd, Belfast, for Nelson Line, Ltd, Liverpool; 1932 HIGHLAND PATRIOT, Royal Mail Lines, Ltd, London; 01/10/10/1940 whilst in transit from Buenos Aires to Clyde, she was torpedoed and sunk by U-38 500nm w of Bishop Rock,. From 143 onboard 3 were lost, however the survivors were rescued by HMS WELLINGTON and landed in Greenock.
