Patagonia Star
Blue Star Line had some of the fastest ships trading to New Zealand but this wasn't one of them. The "Patagonia Star" at Lyttelton in 1961 after being towed in with engine trouble. Built by Harland & Wolff at Belfast as the "Empire Castle" she became the "Gothic Star" in 1946, "Nelson Star" in 1947 and "Patagonia Star" in 1958. Sold by Blue Star in 1961 she later had the names "Eirini"and "Byzantium" before being broken up in Spain in 1971.
