SANTA MARIA MANUELA
The Portuguese four masts cod fishing steel auxiliary schooner SANTA MARIA MANUELA, 62,8m/666gt; 01/06/1937 completed into 60 days by CUF Shipyard. Lisbon, for Empresa de Pesca de Viana, Viana do Castelo, and making part of the worldly known “Portuguese White Fleet” fishing in the Grand Banks; 1962 Empresa de Pesca Ribau, Aveiro; later 60’s converted into a cod fishing m/v with only two masts; 1993 laid up at São Jacinto, Aveiro port; 1994 purchased by Fundação Santa Maria Manuela, which intended to convert her into an exhibition vessel; 2007 purchased by cod fishing ownership and processing fish factory Pascoal & Filhos, Ilhavo, Aveiro port, which having started restoring the schooner to her former guise in the Navalria Shipyard, Aveiro; 29/12/2008 she was towed to Factoria Naval de Marin, Galicia, for final works; 02/05/2010 she eta Aveiro port 15h30, completely restored and the owners intended to employ her as an exhibition of her products, training and cruising schooner.
