Pool Fisher
Pool Fisher
James Fisher and Sons ''Pool Fisher'', 1959/1028 g.t., on the 'Titan' hammer head crane jetty at Felixstowe in October 1963.

She was a regular caller back then and was often seen loading JCB's and other machinery at this berth.

The crane and jetty were demolished about 1966/7 in order to make way for the UK's first dedicated container terminal - Landguard Terminal.

This terminal is itself being redeveloped at the moment into a larger facility, due to be completed in Spring 2010, involving deeper water berths and extending the quay front further into the River Orwell.

The ship was lost in heavy weather on 06/11/1979 off the Isle of Wight. There were 13 fatalities and, I believe, only two survivors.

Regards, Rick
