When compared with an earlier photo posted of her later in her career there is very little similarity with the way she looked originally. The vessel was nearly lost on her delivery voyage when a serious fire broke out in the funnel with fuel being involvedy,the crew managed to contain the fire but it kept flaring up and it took some time to finally get things under control.
On her arrival in NZ instead of coming directly to Wellington the ARATIKA went to Auckland to under go repairs. |
