Built for the British Tanker Co. Ltd. by J. Brown Ltd., Clydebank (Yard No. 507) and completed in July 1926. 9,151 DWT, 420.2' LOA, Breadth 54.4', powered by two 8-cyl. 2 S.C.S.A. oil engines built by the ship builder, 7,760 bhp. Traded uneventfully until 1940 when she was sold to the Ministry of Shipping, (BTC Ltd. Managers), and renamed Empire Diplomat. She became a depot ship in Oran and suffered grounding damage on the 6th May 1944. She was towed back to the Tyne and laid up at Newcastle. January 1946 scrapped by Clayton, Davie & Co. Ltd. Gateshead. |
