Looking astern eastwards out into Hawke Bay off Napier from Torrens 5.4.08, the next piece of land you would touch would be Chile. It is only natural onboard vessels to be looking ahead to see what the ship was heading for, and old salts would have to recommend to their young charges to regularly take "a glance astern" as sometimes something may be happening there too. copyright@brenth
