ASANAGI
Asanagi was the eighth vessel of the Kamikaze-class destroyers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy following World War I. Advanced for their time, these ships served as first-line destroyers through the 1930s, but were considered obsolescent by the start of the Pacific War.
May 20 1944 she was torpedoed and sunk 200 miles (320 km) west-northwest of Chichijima in the Ogasawara islands by the United States Navy submarine USS Pollack (SS-180).
