The AWATEA is seen here on one of her cruises that were done periodically during her short career. She was employed on the Trans Tasman Service between New Zealand and Australia. She was known as the Tasman Greyhound having crossed from Auckland to Sydney in 55 hours 28 minutes and from Sydney to Wellingon in 55 hours 47 minutes. At the time she was one of the fastest passenger liners afloat.
