1981iThe Irish wooden sailing training vessel ASGARD II, 31,7m/ 92gt/ crew 5 and 20 trainees; 1981 built at Arklow, County Wicklow, for State and Minister of Defence, Dublin; 07/03/1981 commissioned; 11/09/2008 sank in the bay of Biscay while in a cruise from Falmouth to La Rochelle. Fortunately all 25 on board abandoned the schooner in distress and were rescued by Marine Nationale Française, which taken them to the island of Belle-Ile.
