SOUND OF SANDA |
A historic vessel: completed in 1938 by William Denny at Dumbarton as LYMINGTON for the Southern Railway Company later British Railways Southern Region. The first vessel to be fitted with Voith-Schneider propulsion units.She operated the Lymington to Isle of Wight service until the 1970s when she took on a new lease of life as fledgling Western Ferries' SOUND OF SANDA to operate on the Firth of Clyde. She remained there until the late 1990s when she was scrapped at Garston near Liverpool. |
