FAIRSEA

The Sitmar liner FAIRSEA berthed at Queen's Wharf , Wellington during the early 1960's. The ship began life as the RIO DE LA PLATA in 1941 but prior to completion was taken over by the US Navy and converted to an escort carrier and named CHARGER B.A.V.G 4.In 1948 she was purchased by the Vlasov Group and reconstructed for the emigrant trade to Australia.
