Portuguese m/v ANGOCHE (2), imo 5017668/ 81,65m/ 1.689,37gt/ 11,5kn; 07/1958 completed by CUF Shipyard, Lisbon, for Companhia Nacional de Navega??o, Lisbon, for its Mozambique coastwise service; 1971 transferred to parent company Companhia Mocambicana de Navega??o, Lourenco Marques; 23/04/1971 outbound Nacala for Porto Am?lia carrying general cargo which included aviation fuel and armament, crew of 23, a passenger, a cat and a dog. Three days after, the panama flag tanker ESSO PORT DICKSON boarded the abandoned ill fated ANGOCHE. The cat and dog were the only live onboard and vessel completely burnt and no signs of the crew, which have not been traced till nowadays, however the life-boats remaining in the davits. The independence movements denied any involvement in the tragedy. What happen!? A mystery up today! Meanwhile the ANGOCHE was towed by German salvage tug BALTIC for Louren?o Marques, called by the ESSO PORT DICKSON; 03/1972 was handed to the breakers at Louren?o Marques. Sister-ship CHINDE (2).
