Ougr?e, Hoboken, Belgium, for Companhia Colonial de Navega??o, Lisbon, for its regular service to Brazil and River Plate; 20/03/1952 began the maiden voyage and led as guest of honor Admiral Gago Coutinho; 1954 she entered to the Central America service; 1962 traveled to Karachi, Pakistan, chartered by the Portuguese government in order to bring back to the homeland, troops prisoners of war, when Indian Union taking the Portuguese territories of Goa , Daman and Diu; In the years 60/70 made several trips to Angola and Mozambique, most of which as transport of troops and military equipment and on these trips, when on the night of 26/05/1970 in transit Mozambique/Lisbon via Luanda carrying about 3.000 soldiers, she was hit by two colossal waves off Cape of Good Hope, which rose to the level of the bridge, causing heavy damage, especially on the bridge, so returned to Louren?o Marques , Mozambique, for repairs, and if she had been hit by a third enormous wave, very possibly have succumbed giving a great misfortune, it would not be the first wrecked in that area. During her life, she made several sightseeing cruises, being one of them around Africa, 51 days; 1972 entered into "laid up" in Tagus estuary; 19/04/1973 reached Kaohsiung, Taiwan, for breaking up.
