Not many ships survive breaking in half once - this ship did it twice and survived. Completed for Atlantic Refining Company in 1941 by Sun Shipbuilding, Chester, Pennsylvania, as E. H. Blum she was 19227 tons dwt. On 16 February 1942 she was damaged by a mine off Virginia Capes, beached, abandoned and broke in two. Salvaged, she was repaired at Philadelphia but on 29 December 1942 went aground off the Deleware Breakwater and again broke in two. Once more she was repaired at Philadelphia, who must have been getting quite adept at it. In 1963 she was renamed York and is seen here off Mina on 5 January 1964. Later that year she was renamed Binky 1 and was broken up at Kaohsiung in 1971.
