Lifeboat S4 sits on Seatoun beach, Wellington on the afternoon of 10 April 1968. This boat was guided to the safety of Seatoun by the Quatermaster Tommy Dartford,one of only two boats to reach the beach safely. The sea now relatively calm, a young boy examines the boat and less than a quater of a mile off shore the pride of the Union Staem Ship Company ,WAHINE lays on her side a total loss with 51 of her passengers and crew having lost their lives in the tragedy.
