Tokuwa Maru
Tokuwa Maru
Nitto Line was one of the first Japanese companies to resume trading to New Zealand after WWII. This is their Tokuwa Maru sailing from Lyttelton in 1961. At the time she was 3 years old having been completed by Kure Zosensho in 1958. She is being assisted by the recently broken up tug Lyttelton II and the East Asiatic ship in the background is the Morelia. In 1975 the Tokuwa Maru came under British control as India Rosewood, managed by Mollers Ltd. Sold to Panamanian owners in 1978 she was later renamed Rosewood and was caught in hostilities at Khor al Zubair in 1980 and was broken up in 1985 in Taiwan.

Nitto Line became part of Japan Line when that company was formed in the 1960's.
