Angelina Lauro

Built by Nederlandsche SB Mij and delivered to Stoomvaart Mij "Nederland" as the Oranje. Sold to Achille Lauro in 1964 and extensively rebuilt by Cant del Tirreno, Genoa. The work was delayed by a large fire when 6 people lost their lives. Delivered 1966 and initially employed on the Europe to Australia emigrant trade before being employed on cruising only from 1972. Laid up in 1976 before being chartered to Costa in 1976 for cruising in Central America. Caught fire at Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas Island in 1979 and became a total loss.
