British pass/cargo liner IONIC, imo 1115337/ 158m/ 12.232gt/ twin screw/ 14kn/ pax: 121 first – 117 second – 450 third class; 15/12/1902 completed by Harland & Wolff, Ltd., Belfast, for Oceanic Steam Navigation Co., Ltd (White Star Line), Liverpool/Shaw Savill & Albion Co., Ltd, Southampton, joint service to New Zealand; 1914 IONIC, requisitioned by Government to be used as a troopship; 1917 IONIC used as under liner requisition scheme; 31/01/1919 IONIC, Oceanic Steam Navigation Co., Ltd (White Star Line), Liverpool/Shaw Savill & Albion Co., Ltd, Southampton, joint service to New Zealand; 1927 rescued the crew of French Grand Banks schooner DAISY; 1934 IONIC, 1934 with the merger of White Star Line and Cunard Line, the ship was bought outright by Shaw Savill & Albion Co., Ltd, Southampton; 1936 IONIC, Norfolk & North American Steamship Co.; 16/06/1937 arrived Yokohama for breaking up.
