delivered as MONS CALPE in August 1954 by Ailsa, Troon to M H Bland (Bland Line), Gibraltar for service between there and Tangiers. Sold in 1986 to Red Star Line, Limassol when she was renamed CITY OF LIMASSOL for a Limassol-Heraklion service. She seems laid up here and sitting rather low in the water, possibly resting on the bottom. In 1987 she was reported sold by A Karras, Cyprus to Virgo Shipping Co (Nausimar), Sri Lanka (?) for a Igoumenitsa to Brindisi service renamed IGOUMENITSA EXPRESS. Again did not last long as in 1988 she was sold to Maritime Faith, Piraeus renamed LILLY T. 1991 she was sold to General Maritime Co, Libya and renamed AFRICA who transferred her to the Government of Mozambique funded by the Libyan Government. She was reported sunk at Maputo towards the end of 1997 |
