Sheaf Holme |
One of a standard series of tankers from J. L. Thompson the Sheaf Holme was delivered to Souters in 1955, two years after her near sister Sheaf Royal. Both were sold to Greek owners in 1965 and Sheaf Holme was renamed Alkis. On a voyage from Khor al Amaya to Montevideo with crude oil she developed fractures in her plating and buckling of her hull structure. She arrived off Cristan da Cunha about 6 July 1971 and subsequently foundered while under tow of the tug Statesman. |
