PORT CHALMERS |
The PORT CHALMERS well secured at sunny Napier during the late 1950's. She was built in 1933 by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd, Newcastle. She had an eventful career being involved in a collision with the CITY OF ORAN in 1937 in dense fog off Portugal.She was nearly sunk by a torpedo in the closing stages of WW2 and suffered a serious engine room explosion in 1962. In 1965 Port Line sold her to be broken up at Taiwan |
