Description. Motor ships of the type AMUR (project 92-040, slovakian designation MNL AMUR, motorova nakladna lod AMUR, 'cargo motor ship AMUR') are the big dry cargo "river-sea" ships, which have three covered holds, with double boards and double bottom, with machine compartment and superstructure in the rear part. Ships are intended basically for carrying of general cargoes, boxed cargoes and timber. Ships were built as a continuation of the series of the type "Volgo-Balt" (project 2-95) and are sometimes included into this type for the initial names of the early-built ships. Serial building. Since 1984 till 1992 45 units of the type "Amur" were built. At least ten first ships, while built, got serial names "Volgo-Balt" with numbers of that series. Then they were assigned new serial names "Amur" with numbers starting from 2501. Distribution. Ships of the type "Amur" were delivered to the main shipping companies in european part of Russia and Ukraine working in the mixed "river-sea" trade: White Sea - Onega, North-Western, Volga-Don, Western, Northern, Kuban, Ukrrechflot. Several latest ships were delivered to Turkmenistan. Ships are mainly operated on foreign coastal lines on Baltic sea (Poland, Germany, Nederlands, Great Britain), on Azov, Black and Caspian seas (Ukraine, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria) with the possibility of passing Volga, Don rivers, Volga-Don, Moscow-Volga, White sea - Baltic canals and Volga-Balt waterway. At present time all ships of the type "Amur" are in service. |
