KRI NANGGALA |
I think this will be the one & only photo of an Indonesian submarine I shall ever post on Shipspotting! Pictured at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Geoje, South Korea on 26/12/2011, nearing the completion of a 2 year refit. Built in 1981 by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft, Kiel, Germany as a standard Type 209, (type 1300 derivation), export only design, designated one of two 'Chakra' Class submarines for Indonesia. 1,390 tons submerged displacement. L X B X D = 59.5 × 6.2 × 5.5 m. The prefix to the name, 'KRI' = Kapal Perang Republik Indonesia = Republic of Indonesia Warship. More photos on her way back to Indonesia here: http://jibraelangel2blog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/photos-of-indonesian-submarine-kri.html Photo by kind permission of Zoran Mandic. Regards, Rick |
