Ship project history:

Small destroyers (actually torpedo boats), built under 1939 program. Project 158 was developed with German help on the basis of construction of French torpedo boats of Le Fier class, which drawings have been bought in occupied France in September, 1942. Machinery would made under French licence: Rateau turbines and La Seyne boilers? with raised steam parameters (as on Oquendo class destroyers), was arranged en echelon. In a hull structure for the first time in Spain welding was widely used.
All 9 ships have been authorized 30/3/1944 and laid down in July-September, 1945. However further building was strongly delayed, mainly because SECN, mastering production of French turbines and boilers, only to 1950 could adjust their production, thus machinery with given boilers appeared absolutely unreliable.
