HOLMLEA

The HOLMLEA was built in 1967 as the SEAWAY PRINCESS for the Northern Steam Ship Co Ltd, Auckland but due to some serious operational problems she was sold to the Holm Shipping Company in 1969. After the WAHINE in sank in 1968 the MAORI was left to operate the Wellington - Lyttelton ferry service on her own causing much backlog of cargo.In 1970 the HOLMLEA was chartered to take up the slack. She is seen here berthed at Wellington during that period.
