Apologies for the quality but these were small photos originally and I have resized them as much as possible. They were given to her first First Officer and handed on to me of her launch at the Swan Hunter yard at Wallsend on 2nd May 1969 by HRH Princess Anne. It was a very wet and grey day and the resulting photos were not the best. ESSO NORTHUMBRIA was the first of 2 250000dwt VLCCs to be built for Esso and the first of a series for various owners built over the years. Completed in 1970 she went to breakers in 1982, a very short life for her of only 12 years.
