15366 GRT 8684 DW Loa 178.00 m, B 25.60 m, D 8.28 m 2 Double Reduction geared Steam turbines 2 screws Service speed 20 knots Passengers 300 (all First Class) Denny Brown Stabilizers This was one of two sister ships, "Santa Paula" and "Santa Rosa" named after the earlier pair (see Santa Paula (1) ) of 9000 tons which, after 26 years, were withdrawn in 1958 as the new vessels entered service. Notable feature for the time was a wide use of new materials in their luxury accomodation, and advanced cargo handling gear. Side doors to Nos. 3 and 4 holds allowed extendible automatic conveyors for palletized cargo.
