TYNE BRIDGE |
This photo was given to me in the 1980s by a friend who once worked for Smith's Dock in Middlesbrough although it shows a departure from the Furness Yard at Haverton Hill. It is part of a fairly large photo so I've just been able to scan this part; TYNE BRIDGE 150000dwt ore/oil carrier completed in 1972 for Hunting and Sons of Newcastle and in the Seabridge consortium. She was in the series that eventually included Bibby's LIVERPOOL BRIDGE/ DERBYSHIRE and I think TYNE BRIDGE was not without her problems. Follwing sale in 1983 she was renamed IRON TRANSPORTER and was scrapped in Taiwan as EAST BRIDGE in 1987. |
