Texaco Europe, IDNo: 5357044, was built as Europe for The Texas Company (Norway) A/S, Oslo, (Haakon Chr. Mathiesen, Oslo, managers), in 1956 by Framnaes M.V. A/S, Sandefjord. Launched on 14.5.56, (Yard No.154), she was completed in November of that year. 15,310 DWT, LOA 529' 8", Breadth 64' 2", Summer Draught 29' 7°¾". Powered by a 9 cyl 2 S.C.S.A oil engine built by A/B Gotaverken developing 6,750 bhp @ 112 rpm giving her a speed of 14°½ knots. Registered in Norway she had a 12C & 20W tank layout and two pump rooms housing 6 pumps with a max. discharge rate of 2,050 t.w./hr. She was part fitted for the carriage of Lube oils, Butterworth portable tank cleaning system and a 10" stern Discharge. Following the establishment of Texaco (Europe) to take over all European operations for the U.S. parent company she was renamed Texaco Europe in 1960. Sold in 1969 to Akti Cia. Nav. S.A., ( Cape Shipping Co., New York, managers), and renamed Akti. Laid up at Eleusis 18.8.75. Sold in 1976 to Astir Maritime Ltd., parent company Shipping & Trading Agencies Ltd., Piraeus and managed by Tankship Management Ltd., New York she was renamed Star. She was finally broken up at Aliaga commencing on 25.4.03. A pretty long life for a tanker at 46+ years.
