Portuguese tug MARS 2º; 31,88m / 114gt / 10kn / steel-hulled, 09/1909 completed by Scott & Sons (Bowling), Glasgow, as MARS for Booth Steamship Co., Ltd. (Booth Line), Liverpool, for assistance to their ships in the port of Leixões, which took the place of the ill-fated tug MARS of 1906, lost in the river Douro great flood of 1909; 1912 MARS 2º, transferred to Empresa de Transportes Fluviais e Maritimos, Lda., mgrs Garland Laidley & Co., Ltd., Oporto, Booth Line agents at Oporto/Leixões, Portuguese flag; 1942 NAUTICUS, Companhia Colonial de Navegação, Lisbon, operating in coastal and river Tagus traffic, towing owner's lighters; 1947, NAUTICUS together with OCEANIA and PRINCIPE have been providing service to a port somewhere in the Portuguese territories of Africa, maybe Angola, but it seems they returned to Lisbon later; Subsequent history untraced.
Seen Leixões 30's showing Nordeutscher LLoyd flag, which was assisting a ship of the German company.
