EMPRESS OF JAPAN |
Built 1930 Company:Canadian Pacific 26,050 tons Became troopship in 1939 Renamed EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND in 1942 after Japan had entered war. As a troopship until 1948 she covered 713,000 miles and carried 292,000 troops as well as other passengers.She steamed round world three times. 1958 became HANSEATIC 1966 badly damaged by fire in New York on 7th September, and towed to Hamburg.
