1916 Troop ship. June 9: With three other troop transports ( Re Vittorio, Ravenna and fosto) and a destroyer escort the ship was crossing the lower Adriatic. Two AustroHungarian submarines attacked but only Principe Umberto was hit by U 5 and she sank off Vallona with 64 dead.
