E By builder at Ancona. 1908 Mar 31: Launched. 1909 May 13: M/v Genoa-South America. 1916 Troop ship. June 9: With three other troop transports ( Re Vittorio, Ravenna and fosto) and a destroyer escort the ship was crossing the lower Adriatic. Two AustroHungarian submarines attacked but only Principe Umberto was hit by U 5 and she sank off Vallona with 64 dead.
